RACINE IDPA ? April 5th Match The next Racine IDPA match is coming up this Saturday, April 5th, 2014. The match is being held indoors at Shooters’ Sport Center in Racine. Directions can be found on our web site at www.racineidpa.com. Please note that you must be a member of national IDPA in order to shoot this match. Make sure to include your IDPA member number on your score sheet. The same stages will be used for the April 19th match for those who cannot attend this match. Registration will begin at 5:15 PM. Setup and range preparation will start as soon as the range is released to us. Safety meeting will be at 6:15 PM with shooting to start immediately after. We will not be stopping for dinner, so please make sure to eat dinner before attending the match. You MUST attend the safety meeting to be able to shoot. If you arrive late and miss the safety meeting you will not be able to shoot. Also, eye and ear protection are required for all Shooters and any observers out on the range. COURSES OF FIRE This month features 3 stages plus a side match. Concealment will be mandatory for some of the stages. Ammo requirements would suggest bringing a minimum of 55 rounds total for both the main match and side match. The side match will also require 10 rounds from a Pistol Caliber Carbine. Please note the side match will require the Carbine to be loaded on the clock. Match fee is $15 for Racine IDPA members, $20 for all non-members. Safety Officers pay $10. NEW SHOOTERS If you are new to IDPA, we ask that you do not gear up until we meet to discuss basic IDPA safety and competition rules. As a reminder, we run a “cold range”- no firearms are to be loaded except under the command of a Safety Officer when it’s your turn to shoot a stage. Handguns can only be handled at the Safety Table or under the direction of an S.O. Also, there is NO handling of ammunition or ammunition carriers (mags, speedloaders, etc.) at the safety table. Failure to abide by these rules will result in a match disqualification. Please feel free to ask a Safety Officer or the Match Director if you have any questions regarding our safety rules. SAFETY OFFICERS We plan on 2 squads, and we need at least 4 people to step forward. If you can SO please email me at id******@co*****.net or Michael Ramps at di********@gm***.com and/or post to the match event in the club’s Facebook group. MATCH DIRECTOR Michael Ramps will be the Match Director at this match. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE With the success of last season’s change to running two matches a month while indoors, we’re continuing that format with this year’s indoor matches. Please remember, the primary purpose of this is to keep the attendance at a reasonable number so that all of us can leave the range at a decent time. Shooters may only attend one match each month unless they are acting as a Safety Officer at both matches. Remember, helping with the match will earn entries towards whatever prize guns the club gives away in December 2014. Registration, set up / teardown, S.O.-ing, etc., all count towards earning entries. Racine IDPA would like to congratulate Mike Herro as being accepted as the Wisconsin/Minnesota IDPA Area Coordinator. Mike has been a long-time volunteer for Racine IDPA, and we?re sure that IDPA in Wisconsin and Minnesota will flourish under his guidance as the Area Coordinator. The club?s current raffle is for a LaserLyte Laser Training Package. The package includes 3 laser training cartridges (9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP), a training target, and a set of three laser-activated knock-down cans. There will be 58 tickets sold, at $10 each or 3/$25, with the drawing held as soon as all of the tickets have been sold. We will be moving to an online registration system starting with the May match. Watch for details in future match announcements. If anyone has any suggestions for stages, please send them my way. I’m always interested in other peoples’ stage design, and while I can’t guarantee they’ll get used at any particular match, the odds are good that they’ll get used eventually. Please keep in mind that the designs may be modified to keep them IDPA-legal or to fit the range the match is held at. Come ready to shoot and have some fun. See you on Saturday.
