IDPA HQ Announces New Area Coordinator for the Central US

A new IDPA Area Coordinator has been announced for the Central United States. Bora Angel has stepped down as the Area Coordinator (AC) of the Central United States. Bora has served IDPA as an Area Coordinator from 2020 to 2024. We wish Bora nothing but the best. Next time you see him at a match, please be sure to thank him for all his years of hard work as a valuable team member with IDPA leadership.

Ben Petty from Bullard, Texas will be taking over the role of Area Coordinator of TX, AR, OK, NE, and NM, effective February 1, 2024. Ben started shooting IDPA about 10 years ago and fell in love with the sport. Ben says, to steal a phrase from one of his shooting buddies, “IDPA is a social event, occasionally interrupted by gun fire!” Ben has wanted to help more and more over the years, first as a safety officer, then as AMD for the Rose City IDPA Championship, as a CSO for many sanctioned matches, as the MD of Texas Guardians IDPA Championship, as State Coordinator of Texas and now as Area Coordinator. Ben and his family have worked numerous sanctioned matches last year and they are looking forward to 2024! Ben enjoys shooting IDPA and competing at matches with his wife Toni and their kids, Abby, Caleb, Rachel and Faith.

Ben has the temperament and knowledge to be a great asset to IDPA in the role of Area Coordinator. He has worked extensively with his predecessor, is a great student of the rulebook and a wonderful ambassador for IDPA. Ben says “I look forward to 2024 and beyond, building on and expanding the legacy that Bora has built.”

Please join us as we welcome Ben to this new position.
