We conduct our match in accordance to the 2013 Rule Book under the terms of a Tier 1 (non-sanctioned) match. We shoot the match every Tuesday (excluding holidays) with setup starting at 6:00 pm (all help is greatly appreciated) and first shot is as close to 6:30 pm as possible. If it is your first time ever shooting IDPA, we conduct a mandatory new-shooter briefing at 6:10 pm (more details below). Match e-mail: idpagovernors@gmail.com Governor?s Range Rules (above those in the 2013 rulebook) and Useful Information We like to remind everyone that we are here to have a safe and fun time at the range. To assist everyone in doing so, we offer the following reminders: 1. Governor?s Gun Club is a cold range; therefore, no loaded guns are to be brought into the range. 2. The ONLY places to handle your firearm (even if it in a holster) is the following: a) In a designated SAFE AREA (no ammo allowed): b) On the firing line under the direction of a Safety Officer (SO). 3. Dropping a firearm or causing a firearm to drop anywhere in the building will result in a DQ. This extends rule 2.3 to include areas outside of the stage boundaries. 4. Take your time. You will see different shooters shooting at differing speeds. Shoot only to the best of YOUR abilities. 5. Do not be afraid to ask a question of anyone. We are all here to help and want everyone to have a fun and safe match. Remember, there is only one stupid question. It is the one that is not asked. 6. Enjoy the camaraderie and have fun! You are moving and shooting, not just standing and shooting! SAFE AREA RULES: 1. Safe Areas are defined locations where you can handle your UNLOADED firearm. a) BEFORE and AFTER the match: There will be a trash can, cart, or barrel downrange in “White” marked with a target saying “Safe Area”. Empty stalls may not be used as the safe area. 2. ABSOLUTELY NO ammo handling is allowed in the safe area. 3. You may not handle magazines in the safe area. 4. Pay attention to what section 2.10 of the rule book says about the safe area. Match Equipment The following items are required to shoot the match: 1. Pistol of .38 caliber (9 mm) or higher 2. Holster 3. 3 magazines 4. 2 magazine holders (a third is nice for convenience of keeping up with your 3rd magazine) 5. 50 rounds of ammo (it is always good to bring extra) 6. Concealment Garment (typically a vest or shirt that is required to conceal your holstered firearm and magazines when shooting) 7. Eye and Ear Protection. Occasionally, we like to literally dim or turn out the lights for certain stages; therefore, we recommend shooters bring a hand-held flashlight (weapons mounted lights are not permitted per the rule book).
